The A – Z of Gaggenau dishwashers

A
Aqua sensor

In programs that include a cold pre-wash, an infrared sensor checks the clarity of the water after the pre-wash. The otherwise usual replacement of the water is omitted if it discovers that the water can still be used for the subsequesnt main wash cycle. This technology makes it possible for up to four liters of water to be saved per program with normal soiling. In fully automated dishwashers, a second sensor is used, which not only detects the clarity of the water, but also small dirt particles such as tea residue in the rinsing water. This allows even more efficient use of main water, without impairing rinsing.

Aqua stop

It is unnecessary with all of the dishwashers to turn taps on and off, as an inlet valve opens automatically when the appliance requires water. A multiple system of protective devices that is kept separate from the main water supply prevents water damage.

Automatic 3-in-1 detergent function

The dishwasher’s controls automatically recognize when 3-in-1 detergent tablets are used instead of individual detergents, and the program sequence adapts itself to suit whatever concentration of individual detergents is present, so the same cleaning and drying results are achieved.

Automatic dishwasher

In the automatic setting, the dishwasher detects the degree of soiling using its Aqua sensor. Water temperature and quantity, as well as length of wash cycle, are optimized accordingly for best results and efficient energy and water consumption. With normal soiling, up to four liters of water can thereby be saved in comparison with less flexible programs.

Automatic programming selection with five special functions

In addition to automatic program selection, five special functions are available:
– Auto-mild wash for glass and china
– Auto-plus wash for highly soiled dishes
– Quick function
– Rinse and Hold
– Power Boost
All functions can be selected easily by means of the interactive tri-lingual display on the top edge of the inside door.

Automatic timer

The electronic timer enables you to specify when to start the wash program up to 24 hours in advance.

B
Baking tray spray head

The electronic timer enables you to specify when to start the wash program up to 24 hours in advance.

C
Condensation drying

During the drying cycle, the hot steam condenses in the form of droplets on the sides of the heat exchanger, which is filled with cold water. These droplets then run down the sides of the heat exchanger, which means the drying process is not only thorough, but hygienic. Neither additional energy nor an external air supply are needed, and no steam escapes when the door of the dishwasher is opened.

D
Duo cutlery basket

The dividable cutlery basket can be placed in the most convenient position to suit the load, for example to allow space for awkwardly shaped dishes, pans, and more.

E
Easy-fill detergent compartment

To add detergent or rinsing agent, you only need to open the dishwasher door slightly – no more tiresome bending.

Eco detergent dispenser

Detergent is dispensed to suit the program selected, saving detergent and protecting the environment.

F
Flow-through water heater

Water is heated by an externally positioned heating element, leaving more room inside the washing compartment.

Fully automatic dishwashers

In all programs, our fully automatic dishwashers calculate the degree of soiling of both dishes and water, using Aqua sensor technology. Water temperature and quantity, as well as length of wash cycle, are optimized accordingly for best results and efficient energy and water consumption. An additional feature of the fully automatic dishwashers is the opportunity to pre select reduced wash time or a special gentle rinse cycle for particularly delicate items, without losing the optimized, flexible program sequence. There are defined short programs.

Fully extendable pull-out rack

The top basket is now fully extendable, which makes it extremely easy to load and unload the back of the basket. The knife holder can be easily folded away.

G
Glass care technology

This new technology avoids damaging fine stemware in several ways: The heat exchanger prevents extreme fluctuations, in water temperature, and the surface of stemware is also protected because the hardness of the water, which is also normally subject to fluctuation is controlled during the washing process. Both the glassware and soaking programs described above are extremely gentle washing methods.

H
Heat exchanger

This innovative technology intelligently exploits the remaining heat in the washing water. The fresh cold water is collected in a side-mounted tank in the dishwasher, ready for the next wash cycle, while being pre-heated by the hot water of the current cycle. No more electricity is needed for the drying cycle, and this cuts energy consumption by about 15 percent. Also, an even temperature control protects decorative trims and glassware.

K
Knife holder

Ideal for long knives or cooking spoons.

P
Power Boost

The three main programs can be shortened when heavily soiled items are needed again in a hurry.

Power-Light

A red dot is projected onto the floor in front of fully integrated dishwashers, this feature provides an external visual indication that a program is running. The light goes out at the end of the program.

Q
Quick wash

This program for lightly soiled items takes just 30 minutes.

R
Rackmatic

The height of the top basket is simple to adjust by 2”, giving better access for loading and unloading large items, for example oversized glasses in the top basket or large plates in the bottom basket.

S
Sensor lock

The dishwasher door closes without effort – a slight nudge is enough.

Stemware basket (optional accessory)

This special stemware basket is designed to hold and protect long-stemmed wine and champagne glasses.

Sterling Silver cutlery cassette (optional accessory)

This aluminum cartridge protects silverware from corrosion.

T
Time remaining display

Shows the remaining number of minutes in a program. The remaining time is recalculated and updated repeatedly during a program. In the fully integrated 24-inch wide models, the end of a program is indicated by a humming sound.

Top/bottom basket folding spines

The adjustable tines make loading large pots and bowls easier and more flexible.

V
Vario bottom basket

Two rows of folding spines offer more flexibility.

Varioflex bottom basket

Dividable glass holders and folding spines for more flexibility.

Varioflex top basket

With a smooth running, fully-extendable pull-out rack and Rackmatic, as well as folding spines for more flexibility and easy handling.
